Abstract

We study the initial value problem for a system of equations describing the motion of two-dimensional non-homogeneous incompressible fluids exhibiting odd (non-dissipative) viscosity effects. We consider the complete odd viscous stress tensor with a general density-dependent viscosity coefficient \(f(\rho )\). Under suitable assumptions, we prove the local existence and uniqueness of strong solutions in \({H^s}(\mathbb {R}^2)\) \((s>2)\), for a class of viscosity coefficients covering the particular case \(f(\rho )=a\rho ^\alpha +b\) for any \((a,b,\alpha )\in \mathbb {R}^3\), generalising the result of [26] devoted to the case \(f(\rho )=\rho \). Additionally, we are able to do so without requiring the initial density variation to belong to \({L^2}(\mathbb {R}^2)\). As a major step of the proof, we exhibit an effective velocity for this sytem, generalising the so-called “Elsässer formulation” recently derived in [27].

本文研究了具有奇(非耗散)粘性效应的二维非均匀不可压缩流体运动方程组的初值问题。我们考虑具有一般密度依赖粘度系数的完全奇粘性应力张量 \(f(\rho )\)。在适当的假设下,我们证明了 \({H^s}(\mathbb {R}^2)\) \((s>2)\),对于一类覆盖特殊情况的粘度系数 \(f(\rho )=a\rho ^\alpha +b\) 对于任何 \((a,b,\alpha )\in \mathbb {R}^3\),概括了b[26]致力于此案的结果 \(f(\rho )=\rho \)。

The Journal of Mathematical Fluid Mechanics (JMFM)is a forum for the publication of high-quality peer-reviewed papers on the mathematical theory of fluid mechanics, with special regards to the Navier-Stokes equations. As an important part of that, the journal encourages papers dealing with mathematical aspects of computational theory, as well as with applications in science and engineering. The journal also publishes in related areas of mathematics that have a direct bearing on the mathematical theory of fluid mechanics. All papers will be characterized by originality and mathematical rigor. For a paper to be accepted, it is not enough that it contains original results. In fact, results should be highly relevant to the mathematical theory of fluid mechanics, and meet a wide readership.
