A rotary atomizer, which is generally used in car body painting, atomizes liquid paint into micro-particles at a rate of several hundred ml/min. The diameter of the micro-particles is not uniform, but has a broad size distribution ranging from near zero to over several hundreds of microns. It is known that this distribution affects transfer efficiency and paint finish quality. This paper discusses the relationship between liquid paint flow and atomization when the inner shape of the bell was changed, focusing on paint flow just before discharge from the bell edge.
This paper examines the feasibility of the proposed control in a small-scale electric vehicle with two independent motors equipped at the rear axles. The direct yaw moment control system is designed with the application of model matching control theory. For realizing the proposed system in an actual electric vehicle, it is necessary to estimate the side slip angle instead of measuring it directly. A speed-dependent observer is proposed in this paper. Experiments using actual small-scale electric vehicle are carried out to verify the effectiveness of the proposed chassis control system on lateral stability in a J-turn test and lane change tests.
The objective of this paper is to introduce a newly developed motor-assisted 4WD system for small front-wheel-drive vehicles. We studied the performance needed by 4WD vehicles in daily use, especially in snowy areas, and concluded that start-off traction on low-μ roads is the most important requirement. This new system is composed of a simple motor drive unit with minimum driving force, but through integrated control of the engine and motor torque, it provides ample 4WD performance on snowy and icy roads and on sandy beaches.
Recently, safe driving support systems such as AHS-i have been proposed. In this paper, we investigate the relationship between the reliability of information provided from a safety system and the driver's unsafe action, and then quantitatively analyze the reliability level required for the system to reduce traffic accidents.
