The study entitled: Flouting Maxims Found in “Good Doctor Season 1” which intends to identify and analyse the different kinds of flouting maxims and the reason in “Good Doctor Season 1” characters use. The data was found in the series entitled Good Doctor Season 1. In this data, the method that is used is observation and analysed in descriptive in qualitative method. This study analysed the flouting maxim in Good Doctor Season 1. This analysis supported by Grice (1975), categorizes the type of flouting maxims. Additionally, Leech (1983) provided theory to justify the rationale behind the characters' employment of the flouting maxims in “Good Doctor Season 1” movie. This study collects 42 pieces of data which flouting maxims; 5 of these were classify as flouting maxims in terms of quality, 8 as flouting maxims in terms of quantity, 22 as flouting maxims in terms of relevance, and 7 as flouting maxims in terms of manner. And this study collects 42 pieces of data on the reason of flouting maxims; 13 pieces of data as competitive, 10 pieces of data as convivial, 9 pieces of data as collaborative, and 10 pieces of data as conflictive. The conclusion of the study states that this movie uses the most relevant maxims and competitive reasoning from 42 data.

While in England the memory of Thomas More had been erased from public life after his execution (6 June 1535), English Catholics exiled in the Spanish Netherlands preserved his figure and legacy. Furthermore, the inclusion of More’s engraving in 16th-century portrait books of distinguished personalities–the so-called viri illustres genre–, contributed to the promotion of the famous English humanist in continental Europe. Soon, More’s integrity and wisdom were extolled not only in works printed in Catholic countries but also in other territories that no longer accepted Rome’s authority. This paper analyses the depiction (both image and text) of the English humanist in all these works. The visual and textual rhetoric of these engravings shows their mutual dependence.

This study analyzes the types of illocutionary speech acts used by the main character in the Disney movie "Encanto". This study aims to find the type of illocutionary speech act in the Disney movie "Encanto" that is mostly used by the main character, named "Mirabel". This study uses the theory of JR Searle (1979) to analyze the types of speech acts used by the main character in the Disney movie "Encanto". The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The researcher analyzed the types of illocutionary speech acts used by the main character in the Disney movie "Encanto". The researcher found four types of illocutionary speech acts in the film "Encanto", namely representative, directive, expressive, and commissive. In this study, the researcher describes the types of illocutionary speech acts used by "Mirabel" in the movie "Encanto" with 35 extracts as representatives of several types found for each type of illocutionary act proposed by JR Searle (1979).

Gender is a complex issue because it is a social identity that is dynamic in nature. It exists according to the culture to which a society belongs and is not fixed. Films, as a popular medium, often convey messages about gender issues and are implicit in their nature. This research explores the construction of gender in Original Netflix's Purple Heart. This research is qualitative descriptive research with the semiotic approach of Rolland Barthes. The result of the study showed that the film shows how gender is constructed through the intense relationship between men and women. Furthermore, the film Purple Hearts constructs gender identity unequally, in particular regarding the roles of men and women and the treatment of women.

The study focuses on interrogative sentence types and their syntactical analysis in the Encanto movie. The aims of this study are to find the types of interrogative sentences and to analyse sentence structure of interrogative sentences in the Encanto movie. The methods used to analyse the data are observation and qualitative methods. The main theory proposed by Cowan (2008) about interrogative sentences, and the supporting theory proposed by Brown and Miller (1991) about sentence structures. The results obtained are 123 data found consisting of three types of interrogative sentences, those are yes/no questions with a total data of 47 or 38,2% with each positive category yes/no questions containing 22 data, elliptical yes/no questions 4 data and declarative yes/no questions having 21 data which both types were included in the reduced yes/no questions. Then, there are 4 data or 3,3% from tag questions in the category opposite polarity questions. The last, there are wh-questions with total data of 72 or 58,5%. This study expects to contribute insight into interrogative sentences and their sentence structures, and helps students to learn syntax.

This research aims to determine the preconscious personality of the main character in the film Aladdin. Researchers used qualitative descriptive methods in this research using primary and secondary data. Researchers used documentation techniques and literary analysis. There are several procedures in conducting this research, such as watching the film, identifying essential points related to the study, classifying the characters' personalities and preconscious personalities in the movie, identifying plot developments, and explaining the conclusions. Thus, the selection of this research title is based on a combination of personal interests, academic interests, and the potential impact that can be generated. Characters are imaginings that are relevant to us and our experiences, whether like ourselves or other people we know. This research 1. How is the subconscious state of the main character depicted in the film Aladdin? 2. How does the state of the subconscious affect the personality of the main character? The psychoanalytic used Sigmund Freud's theory. The research results show that Aladdin's subconscious personality in the film is shown as a kind, humble, steadfast, and generous character. According to data from this research, the main character's personality, Aladdin, is described because of the film's storyline, where Aladdin is placed in poverty and then gets lucky, thus producing a conflict in the character's subconscious.

This research focuses on Meilin 's feelings for self - expression and how Meilin respects her ancestors and parents. Meilin is the main character of the novel. It doesn't stop there; Mei is also an active child and excels in school. Mei is always obsessed with making her parents happy until she forgets her own happiness. She couldn't express herself the way she wanted to. However, after going through many events, Mei decided not to hold back anymore. Mei then tried to be more honest with herself, unfortunately it had some effect on her. This is the background of this research by describing the respect that is shown by Meilin towards parents and ancestors qualitatively. The method used in to conduct this study is by observing combined with note-taking techniques. The first step of this research is to watch this film and read the script, after that record every sentence that contains moral values and record how the main character describes these moral values. Moral value of respect was examined using the theory proposed by Linda and Eyre (1993) in their book Teaching Your Children Values. Based on the classification results, the study analyses conversations that contain moral values of respect. shown by the antagonist and protagonist characters in a dialogue

In recent years and, in light of the latest developments in the field of neurotechnology, some critics have claimed that mind uploading could become technically feasible in a not-too-distant future. While transhumanist critics embrace this procedure and dream of a postbiological future in which human beings possess greater cognitive, emotional, and sensorial abilities, the critical posthumanists warn of the risks inherent to the idea of leaving biology behind to lead a virtual life in cyberspace. Significantly, these warnings reverberate in some twenty-first century cultural productions such as Mark McClelland’s Upload (2012), a novel that is also representative of an emerging trend of SF novels written by tech professionals. Although the novel may seem to be at first a defense of simulated life, this work aims to prove that McClelland’s narrative choices ultimately uncover a critical posthumanist view of embodiment as an essential part of human identity.

This article examines Kym Ragusa’s The Skin between Us: A Memoir of Race, Beauty and Belonging as a gendered transcultural narrative from the standpoint of spatial theory. In order to do so, it contextualizes the text within the framework of memoir writing and subsequently analyzes the representation of varied emotional spaces in the process of recovering one’s identity as displayed by the narrative voice. This research contends that the use of memoir, a genre particularly used by ‘marginal’ voices, is an adequate means to critically reflect on the (de)construction of identity as well as convey alternative patterns of gender relations and cultural negotiations. In addition, it stresses the central role of space and emotions in reflecting the transculturality and intersectionality of the diasporic and gendered subject.

Current society demands people with different attitudes and competences who are able to thrive in the global world. Since its appearance in the 1990s, the relevance of the concept of Emotional Intelligence has only grown within the education system, as it is seen by recent research as an essential competence that needs to be developed to achieve the holistic training of students. This study was conducted in a high school of Spain with the participation of the English department and 49 English learners who answered some questionnaires to examine how teachers and students from a EFL classroom context perceive issues related with Emotional Intelligence such as the perception and expression of emotion, emotional facilitation of thinking, understanding of emotion and regulation of emotion. Besides, it spotlights their potential interest in working with some projects proposed following the Project Based Learning (PBL) approach.
