Improving DBSCAN for Indoor Positioning Using Wi-Fi Radio Maps in Wearable and IoT Devices 在可穿戴设备和物联网设备中使用Wi-Fi无线地图改进DBSCAN室内定位

IoT devices and wearables may rely on Wi-Fi finger-printing to estimate the position indoors. The limited resources of these devices make it necessary to provide adequate methods to reduce the operational computational load without degrading the positioning error. Thus, the aim of this article is to improve the positioning error and reduce the dimensionality of the radio map by using an enhanced DBSCAN. Moreover, we provide an additional analysis of combining DBSCAN + PCA analysis for further dimensionality reduction. Thereby, we implement a postprocessing method based on the correlation coefficient to join "noisy" samples to the formed clusters with Density-based Spatial Clustering of Applications with Noise (DBSCAN). As a result, the positioning error was reduced by 10% with respect to the plain DBSCAN, and the radio map dimensionality was reduced in both dimensions, samples and Access Points (APs).

The method and methodology of efficiency assessment of protection system of distributed information systems 分布式信息系统防护系统效能评估方法与方法学

The paper analyzes geographically distributed information systems from the point of view of IT infrastructure, information security systems. The key features are identified, the problems of creating information security systems are identified. On the basis of general criteria for evaluating information technologies, criteria for the cost of information security tools and the degree of neutralization of threats to information security, criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of information security systems of geographically distributed information systems are determined. The paper studies the existing methodologies for assessing the effectiveness of information security systems, identifies their main disadvantages. Based on the studies of the adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system, a method and methodology for assessing the effectiveness of information security systems has been developed, which allows the most accurate performance assessment. For the ANFIS network used in the method, the best parameters are determined that give the minimum network error. The developed method and technique make it possible to assess the effectiveness of information security systems of geographically distributed information systems both at the stage of creating a system and in the process of its operation, which makes it possible to promptly and timely make changes to the information security system.

Broadband Power Line Module Integrated into Power Plug for Smart Buildings 智能楼宇电源插头集成宽带电力线模块

This paper presents an integrated Broadband Power Line module design suitable for installation in an electrical outlet. This paper describes the design process, construction of a functional prototype and basic verification of communication. The created prototype will be used mainly in Smart Buildings applications to increase energy efficiency and power management or in local networks as a possible alternative to existing technologies.

RSS Fingerprinting Dataset Size Reduction Using Feature-Wise Adaptive k-Means Clustering 基于特征自适应k均值聚类的RSS指纹数据集缩减

Modern IoT devices, that include smartphones and wearables, usually have limited resources. They require efficient methods to optimize the use of internal storage, provide computational efficiency, and reduce energy consumption. Device resources should be used appropriately, especially when employed for time-consuming and energy-intensive computations such as positioning or localization. However, reducing computational costs usually degrades the positioning methods. Therefore, the goal of this article is to propose and compare compression mechanisms of the fingerprinting datasets for energy-saving without losing relevant information, by using adaptive k-means clustering. As a result, we achieved a compression ratio of up to 15.97 with a small decrease (1%) in position error.

Search for Coordinates of WSN Nodes using Multidimensional Scaling Method 基于多维尺度法的WSN节点坐标搜索

Nowadays, wireless sensor networks (WSN) are widely used for various Internet of Things applications. The sensor nodes are usually deployed randomly in the field. Thus, searching for node coordinates is one of the requirements to construct the network structure. With knowing distances between nodes and the coordinates of anchor nodes in a certain network fragment, we propose a method based on the multidimensional scaling for searching for desired node coordinates.

Network asymmetries and pricing in 5G telecommunications 5G通信中的网络不对称和定价

In this paper we consider network asymmetries and services pricing in 5G telecommunications with two period technology diffusion model. The time path of market demand, prices dynamics, the social surplus and profits companies that implement new telecommunications technologies are determined. The interaction of the users, telecommunication companies and telecommunication services costs for new 5G technologies are studied. Telecommunication industry equilibrium is considered with free entry and exit. We consider optimal path of the telecommunication companies’ profits, which represent the incentive to research and development (R&D). We investigate R&D expenditure on services and process innovation of 5G technology, assuming a different number of telecommunication companies undertaking R&D. We illustrate how diffusion of 5G technology and R&D are interlinked.

Handover-based Load Balancing Algorithm for 5G and Beyond Heterogeneous Networks 基于切换的5G及以上异构网络负载均衡算法

In ultra-dense networks, an enormous number of small base stations (BSs) are required to be deployed, and the number of handovers (HOs) in heterogeneous networks (HetNets) increases as a result. Mobility management with the increasing number of HOs is a critical issue that requires uninterrupted connectivity due to user mobility in HetNets. However, some BSs in the network may be more heavily loaded than their neighbors. Load balancing (LB) involves load transfer from an overloaded BS to an under-loaded neighboring BS for the more load-balanced network. HO and LB are two important issues to improve network performance. In this paper, we propose an algorithm that utilizes user speed and received signal reference power to adapt HO margin (HOM) and time to trigger (TTT). Besides, the proposed algorithm balances the loads among neighbor BSs. Additionally, the proposed algorithm aims to reduce ping-pong HOs (HOPP) and HO failure (HOF) ratios. The simulation results show that the rates of HOPP and HOF are significantly reduced by the proposed algorithm, thus improving network performance under various mobile speeds. Moreover, the results show that the proposed algorithm minimizes the standard deviation of BS loads in the network. The proposed algorithm achieves load balancing and reduces overload during user mobility in HetNets. Therefore, there is more than 60% improvement in terms of the HOF, and 63% more balanced network is achieved with the proposed algorithm in the network.

Mathematical Model for Reliability Analysis of a Heterogeneous Redundant Data Transmission System 异构冗余数据传输系统可靠性分析的数学模型

In the current work, we perform reliability analysis of a repairable data transmission system with the use of the elaborated mathematical model of a closed heterogeneous redundant cold standby system. The system consists of a single repair unit with two different data sources with an exponential distribution function (DF) of uptime and a general independent DF of the repair time of its components. We study the system- level reliability, defined as the steady-state probability (SSP) of failure-free system operation. The proposed analytical methodology made it possible to evaluate the reliability of the entire system in case of failure of its components. Explicit analytic expressions and asymptotic estimates are obtained for the SSP of the system and the SSP of failure-free system operation. The obtained results which allow analyzing other operational characteristics of the system with respect to the performance of the backup components. The problem of analyzing the sensitivity of the reliability characteristics of the system under consideration to the types of repair time distributions was also studied. Obtained formulas showed that there is a clear dependence of these characteristics on the DF types of the recovery time of system’s components. However, numerical studies and analysis of the constructed graphs showed that this dependence becomes vanishingly small with a "quick" restoration of system components.

The system consists of a single repair unit with two different data sources with an exponential distribution function (DF) of uptime and a general independent DF of the repair time of its components. We study the system- level reliability, defined as the steady-state probability (SSP) of failure-free system operation. The proposed analytical methodology made it possible to evaluate the reliability of the entire system in case of failure of its components. Explicit analytic expressions and asymptotic estimates are obtained for the SSP of the system and the SSP of failure-free system operation. The obtained results which allow analyzing other operational characteristics of the system with respect to the performance of the backup components. The problem of analyzing the sensitivity of the reliability characteristics of the system under consideration to the types of repair time distributions was also studied. Obtained formulas showed that there is a clear dependence of these characteristics on the DF types of the recovery time of system’s components. Application for an Early Detection of Transmission Parameters Degradation of Point-to-Point Microwave Links 点对点微波链路传输参数退化早期检测的应用

Exterior radio equipment of microwave links operating in an outdoor environment under the influence of weather conditions is at risk of a link failure or device defect occurrence. Also their indoor units are under threat of a device failure, as well as any other network device. This paper aims to present the creation of a network monitoring application capable of timely detection of potential failures of the microwave units, based on analyzing trends in monitored device parameters. The basic designed architecture is being described, as well as a graphical user interface. Several failure detection methods are explained. Significant findings in the results of the experimental monitoring are presented. These cases revealed the possible oncoming link failures on the network of the service provider, which led to a saving of the provider’s resources.

Common noise sources and their impact on OFDM highspeed HomePlug PLC networks 常见噪声源及其对OFDM高速HomePlug PLC网络的影响

This article covers the testing of PLC (Power Line Communication) network traffic by TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) and UDP (User Datagram Protocol) protocols on aluminum and copper wiring conducted on TL-PA8010v2 and TL-WPA8630v2 PLC adapters. Transmission speed measurements on aluminum and copper network allowed to analyze different effects of interference on data transmission on both networks and compare them. Moreover, three other appliances are introduced and investigated in their impact on the PLC communication (transmission) speed. Overall, the experimental measurements from these are presented, which should help build a more reliable household PLC network, i.e., for the smart home.
