An empirical study is being conducted among 8th grade students to establish opinions and attitudes towards the studied plots in Old Bulgarian literature. In the non-representative survey conducted among 24 Bulgarian students of the 8th grade in the “Vasil Levski” PPMG, the city of Smolyan, it was established that their attitudes are related to a positive attitude towards the material studied in the “Middle Ages” section, and that the old Bulgarian works help to build of a valuable worldview related to faith as a fundamental and most important value in human life. In this way, worldview ideas and ethical and moral postulates are incorporated in the students, which they transfer to modern society for the realization of effective and successful social-communicative practices.

The article suggests an attempt to comment the book “Letters by Ivan Vazov” through three conceptual lines which are revealed in the personalistic approach of the compiler Prof. Nikolay Chernokozhev: the social and cultural atmosphere, the issues of works of art, personal experience. Thus, through the role and meaning of the letter as a genre, the poet’s social roles and inner world are analyzed.

Negative yes-no questions have been widely discussed with respect to the properties of the negation marker which does not contribute to the negative meaning of the structure but rather to the expression of positive bias (Ladd 1981, Holmberg 2016). Interestingly, it has been noticed that Bulgarian and other Slavic and Balkan languages display some restrictions on the co-occurrence of negation and n-words in yes-no questions. In Bulgarian the licensing of n-words is therefore confined to the cases in which n-words attach to the interrogative particle li, the licensor of yes-no questions. Comparing this behaviour of n-words and other elements, like wh-words and focus phrases, we suggests that it is triggered by the property of denoting the sets of alternatives present in the discourse (Giannakidou 2006). Due to this property, n-words obligatorily take part of the questioned portion of the structure and adjoin to the particle li in yes-no questions.

The purpose of the text is to point out the different attitudes towards mastering the first language in the Bulgarian diaspora in Czechia and the degree of awareness of the need for teaching of Bulgarian in the society where the main language is different from Bulgarian. The results of a longitudinal study, including dozens of respondents from different social strata of the diaspora, are presented and their language attitudes are analyzed. The text shows different points of view regarding bilingualism, bilingual education and the maintenance and development of the native Bulgarian language in a foreign language environment.

The article analyzes the role of the language situation in the classroom for learning the Bulgarian language. The characteristics of a bilingual and multilingual classroom are indicated, which have a key role in planning and organizing the language learning. Various normative documents are presented, which provide support for a smooth transition to Bulgarian language learning at the primary stage for students with a different native /family language, and possibilities for implementing different models for language learning in a bilingual and multilingual classroom are discussed.

The conclusive (inferential) is one of the controversial categories in Bulgarian, the most obvious being the disagreements on its the temporal paradigm, and at the center of this dispute stands the question of the existence of conclusive forms in the present and future tense plan. This work examines uses of the conclusive (inferential) forms in these tenses in order to explore and describe their specificities and to demonstrate that, although often admirative, such forms do exist. The first part of the work presents the accepted views on the semantics of the conclusive, the second part offers some analysis of examples, containing conclusive present and future, and in the last part, brief conclusions are drawn.

In the context of the external socio-cultural conditions in which the educational process takes place, adaptability, creativity and the ability to solve problems are often considered to be far more valuable qualities than the accumulated knowledge in a given field. To develop these qualities in adolescents, teachers need to develop different strategies to engage and hold the attention of the world's young people. One of the interactive techniques that ensure the active participation of children in the learning process is the game. The article offers a practical methodological idea for applying a similar method to Bulgarian language classes in the fifth grade and draws conclusions based on the observations made.

The study teases out not only the life of the famous researcher and politician, but also the lives of his father, Dimitar Emanuilov Shishmanov, and his son, Ivan Dimitrov Shishmanov.
